Sevierville Family Conference!

Sevierville was fantastic.  The speakers that were there are some of the best.  Ken Ham, Buddy Davis, Dr. Jason Lisle, Dr. David Menton and Dr. Georgia Purdom of AiG were there along with men like Bill Jack and Voddie Baucham plus other.

I'll share some more about that in a second.  On Monday I had the privilege of sharing with a group that came to the museum from southeastern Kentucky.  The youth leader is a pricipal in a public school and his assistants are teachers there.  It was so encouraging to see this.  It was supposed to be an hour meeting, they kept asking questions after I was finished and it went on for another hour.  These young folks sat there for 2 hours!  When somebody tells you that young folks can't pay attention for long periods of time are out of touch with reality.

That afternoon I took my final exam for my college class.  Think I did pretty good, we'll see.  After work I had to go and see sweet baby Trey!

My son took this picture.  He manages a photography studio as well as running a small Christian School.

On Tuesday I had to get on the road for the Family Conference.  Over 2700 were in the main sessions and really seemed to be blessed by the teaching.

On Wednesday Bill Jack and myself worked with the teen's and college age.  A few adults slipped into our meetings as well.  This is me speaking below.  Really responsive group.

I had a 20 year old young man come up to me after my first talk.  He was struggling with words.  He told me that he was the only 20 year old in his church.  All of those that he grew up with had left.  He told me how what had been taught made so much sense.  He said this made the Bible real to him and that as a result he was excited about his faith.  I challenged him to reach out to those he'd been in church with and show them them there was a different way.  We've got to train and empower this next generation to reach their peers.  They can reach them better than us older folks.  The young man in the picture below truly blessed me.

He came up to me after the talk and said, "That was awesome!  You were speaking with us, not at us or about us.  It was almost like we were having a discussion but there were a lot of people!"  I see this everywhere I go.  Young folks want us to speak with them, not at them.  They truly are hungry for something real.

On Thursday I drove home.  I was actually pretty tired.  I couldn't sleep while I was down there for some reason.  After I got home I had to visit baby Trey again.  Gotta' brag on the boy.  Below are a few photo's.

That's about the whole family.

On Friday I finished a presentation for college and submitted it.  I'm not officially finished with that course.  I went into work and saw that the Creation Museum was showing one of my video's in the evening.  Since I was in town I told them that I'd be happy to do it "live".  I'm so happy that I did.  The auditorium was almost completely full.  That really surprised me for a 6 pm talk on a Friday night.  The resonses were off the charts.  I spent 50 minutes afterwards with folks.  I met missionaries who are taking AiG's materials across the globe, school teachers in the public school, parents who're homeschooling their children to young folks who've started their own ministry.  Praise God.

Email of the week.  My good friend Mark Cahill sent me an email that someone sent to him.  It' concerning the latest article that I wrote for the Answers Magazine.  It's interesting, I've had a LOT of feedback from this article.  Let me share this one with you:

Mark,

I had a similar experience from the article. I had given your book to a friend, briefly witnessed, and asked him to read the book. We had lunch again yesterday and I was able to share with him that it is all about Christ and his relationship with him. No idea about the outcome. He is a tough profane old bird, but at the same time more genuine than many Christians. But he knows that I shared because I care about him and God cared enough to send his son to die for him. I could have never done that two months ago. Kerby's article where the man displays his caring and sincercity made all the difference. Will send it to more people.

I gave two copies to our translator a devout Christian. I had been wanting to share the book with my boss, who can be a tough man to love sometimes. He came in yesterday while I was out and Ms. Kim, gave him the book. She has a relationship with his wife so he had to politely accept it(Oriental keeping face). I had him on my list of folks and just not brave enough to give it to him.

Many folks make it an intellectual argument or confrontation. The simple child like approach works. I have to learn to be more childlike and bold.

God Bless,

Mike

Thanks for all of your prayers and support.  Enjoy the time the Lord has given too you and share HIs love with someone today.

Blessings,

Carl Kerby

P.S. -  Just after I published this I got another email that is worthy of email of the week!  Check this out:

Hey Carl,

I was chapel speak for a Jr Hi Camp last week. I used the Noah's Ark video (deBunked) from Veracity Project in one of my messages. The kids applauded when it finished! It ignited a lot of questions from them. The next evening we spent a lot of time on creation and science. You could see the kids getting excited at the fact that science not only does NOT disprove the Bible, but secular scientists can't even support their own theories! I used a lot of information from AIG and ICR. Thanks for helping to equip me to reach this generation with the truth!

There was an elementary day camp running concurrently with the Jr Hi overnight camp. In the day camp chapel, I started planting seeds with them, too. One of the counselors said to me later that one of his kindergarten aged boys picked up a rock and said, "Wow, this rock is only 6 thousand years old." Cool! I remember seeing a kid do that at my school once, only he said "millions of years."

I used several other Veracity videos throughout the week. Thanks for bringing their ministry to my attention.

Blessings,

Dan M.

How awesome is that!  There's nothing better than seeing folks get excited and starting to minister.

Hello Mr. Kerby,

First of all I wanted to thank you again for taking time out of your busy schedule to do an interview with my siblings and I at the Defending the Faith Conference. I was encouraged by it, and I trust the Lord will use it mightily!

Also, I wanted to let you know that I was really touched by your talk that you gave live at the Creation Museum on Friday night (yep, I was there!). I had heard a lot of the material in the presentation, but some of it was new. The thing that really got me thinking was what you said about the satanist book by Anton LeVey. Very disturbing, and frightening. Thanks for standing up and speaking the truth!

Keep up the good work!
