Gone Boatin!
I know this is a quick blog, but the problem is that I leave
tomorrow for the Grand Canyon and will be out of touch for 9 days. As
soon as I get back I hopefully catch a flight to Atlanta and arrive at
11:30 pm to speak the next morning at 9 am. IF I miss the flight I
take an 11 pm flight to get in at 7 am to speak at 9 am! Prayers are
appreciated! All this to say I won't be able to update the blog or Facebook for about 11 days. When I do I'll put up a day by day account of the river trip!
So, what's happened in 3 days since the last blog? Good question,
thanks for asking! The short answer is, a lot! Let me share feedback
that I got from the Sunday, Monday and Tuesday ministry at Five Forks
Brethren Church in Waynesboro, PA. This was really an AWESOME
ministry! After speaking for three days and at two different Christian
Schools Tuesday night was like the grand finale. And what an
encouraging ending it was. A number of the high schoolers showed up
and I had a LOT of conversations after it was over. I can't begin to
relate them all, but will give some key prayer requests fromt the
conversations I had.
1. A young man who was raised in the church and went to Christian
School came up and told me how he truly struggled with his faith. He
is just not coming back and wanted nothing to do with the Church after
high school. He fits the research done in the book Already Gone
to a "t". He now has a son and was very convicted about not raising
his son to have the same type of faith he had growing up. He asked
that we pray for him to be a godly father and husband. Really good
conversation.
2. A young lady came up to me after the high school seminar and
told me how much she appreciated the talks because her brother, who
went to the same Christian School, has now rejected Christ because of
evolution. She told me that she felt more prepared to speak with him
now. Pray the Lord will give her wisdom in dealing with her brother
and that he would come to a true, saving knowlage of Christ.
3. Another young man came up and asked for prayer for him. His
friend rejects Christianity and uses evolution to justify his
position. This young man now wants to have a conversation with him
trying a new approach. Instead of apologizing for the Bible he's going
to use it as his starting point to show it has answers. That's cool!
Pray the Lord will bless this young man's obedience and give him the
words to speak. Pray the Holy Spirit would move in his friends life
and draw him to Himself.
4. Another young lady came up and shared with me the hurt that she
feels because her father is an atheist and is always attacking her
faith. Her sister has already rejected everything and has adopter her
fathers way of thinking. After thesessions she was so encouraged she'
going to speak with both of them. Pray the Lord, again, would work
through this young lady's obediance and do something amazing.
5. The young lady's mother from number 4 came up to me and told me,
"You have no idea how much you impacted her life." I know it is the
Holy Spirit that does the work. It is just a privilege to be allowed
to play a part. Pray for this mother who is divorced from this man and
is having big struggles. Pray that if it be the Lord's will He will do
something amazing, to the point that the former husband receives the
Lord and if possible their marriage be restored.
6. A "mature" couple spoke with me about how convicted they were to
start sharing their faith after hearing the sessions. When they were
eating lunch they were compelled to ask the waitress how they could
pray for her. They were overwhelmed by the response. This lady
"unloaded" on them. She's a single mother, with two young sons living
in her mom's home. She has a lot of issues to deal with and doesn't
know where to turn. This couple was so encouraged. They were able to
share the Lord with her and invited her to church. They are continuing
to reach out to her. Pray the Lord would be ever present in this
ladies life and continue to spur this "mature" couple to continue to
reach out. They were a blessing to me. He had tears in his eyes when
he related this story to me.
7. Another young lady, one of the brightest spirits I've ever met.
She spoke with me for a bit after the last session. She struggles with
addictive behaviors. She truly is a sweet young lady, I'd ask that you
lift her up in a mighty way. Pray the Lord will take away those
destructive behaviours and draw her to Himself. Pray the Lord will use
what this young lady has experienced to bring many who are struggling
with the same issues to Himself. She has that type of personality,
Pray she grows strong in the Lord and allows Him to direct her path.
These are just the onces that I can remember! Here are a couple of emails that came in as well.
"I have been attending the services you have been doing at Five
Forks this week and have been very blessed. I am thrilled to be
learning so much and know that through this I will be better able to
help my children. . . . I feel like after these services I can give
them a little more and know where to go for the answers. They go to
the dinosaur serivce and then sit with us during the second
presentation, and they are eating it up! Today we had to drive to
Chambersburg and they were talking about what they have learned and
answering questions that I gave them from what I learned. My daughter
was looking at a book on dogs and the very first section was the
evolution of dogs. She just laughed and said, do they really think we
believe this?? We got to talk about the importance of having
Christians as scientists and how they help the rest of the world in so
many ways. It was so great to talk about together and I look forward
to growing in knowledge with them. Thank you for what you do, we will
be praying for you as you continue to share you messages around the
world. Denise" (The full email was a LOT bigger. Very encouraging to see parents get excited.)
"I had the privilege to hear you speak just this past Sun am, pm
and Mon pm (4/18-19)at Five Forks Church. I just wanted to thank you
for the ministry that you do to get the word out to Christians that we
can believe that God's word is absolutely true and to know how to
refute those who say it isn't. I think I first learned about Answers
in Genesis when I heard about the Creation Museum opening. I was there
the month that it opened and was so impressed, and I think I will be
going again this fall. From then I heard Tommy Mitchell
speak, in fact I brought with me a few of my Sunday School kids to hear
him talk about dinosaurs(I teach 3rd - 5th grade). I then got involved
at running our church's VBS and have used AIG's material 2 different
times. . . . I feel for the children that we are losing. I
purchased the Already Gone book and can't wait to share it w/ others in my church. . . . I signed up to be on the AIG prayer
team and am praying for you and all that you do. If there were any
opportunities at AIG to be more active in spreading this word, I would
love to be involved. Thank you again for your ministry and may God
bless you and this work. Pam"
Please consider joining the AiG Prayer team. We need all the prayers we can get.
I also had LOT of people ask me about a short video that I'm using in my presentations called, deBunked!
A good friend of mine made this thing happen and I really like the way
it connects with young and old alike. I had a 70 year old lady come up
and thank me for it because someone finally answered how they could
have put all those animals on the ark!! She told he she had asked her
father and all he could ever tell her was to have faith, that God did
it. This helped her to have answers, even though she never doubted,
she just felt more excited because she could answer the question now.
You can check it out at his website.
Got another email from speaking at the Homeschool Co-op, PEP about a month ago.
"I just wanted you to know that I now have several new PEP
families and it was because they attended the PEP Rally and felt
convicted to make a change within their families. Dave and I want to
thank you for taking the time away from your family to speak to PEP.
We heard you speak at Grace on Thanksgiving and you talked about the
book, One Thing You Can't Do In Heaven." We bought the book and it was life changing. We'll be looking forward to hearing you again this coming Thanksgiving. Tammy"
Tonight I'm meeting with some of the float trip folks and we're
going to have dinner and walk around Las Vegas a little. Watch the
fountains etc. Tourist stuff!
Today I got to share with Seung, a Korean man who has lived in the
US for 18 years. He drives a taxi in Las Vegas and has done so for the
last 14 years. 18 years ago he was very wealthy and ran a clothing
distrubutership out of Korea. He lost everything, his wife, child by
divorce and money. We have a really, really good conversation. When
we parted he thanked me for the time and for teaching him. He was a
really good man. I had him added to my Prayer Warrior section and would ask that you pray for him.
Got to speak to two different Christian Schools today. Really
challenged the young folks. Was challenged myself as well. A few of
the parents were there and they talked with me also. Stay bold,
encourage each other and pray for each other. We live in a time when
we truly need this support from each other.
I know this is a long post, but I'm going to be out of touch for a while though. May the Lord richly bless you.
Carl k.
