Moody Radio!

Mark Elfstrand and I in the Creation Museum

Last week was a blur.  I worked a LOT on the new Q&A Live Worldview Survey which will be on the new web site.  Feels like I did nothing.  This is about a 20 question survey but, it has taken more hours to put together than I ever imagined!  It's probably about 60% done now.  Thanks to those of you that went and tested it for me.  Wow, a lot of work.

Tuesday I spoke in the museum as well as worked on the survey.

Wednesday I spoke to a youth group from a local church and then filmed some spots with some of the youth.  I'm excited about the film we were able to capture, now we have to turn it into something even cooler.  I've got an idea and I'm working with my son on it.  I think it will illustrate what I'm wanting in a major way.  I was also able to get film that was shot with interview of young folks that I spoke to in Georgia, very encouraging comments.  You never know what folks will say after you speak.  Trust me, not everyone hears things the same way.

Thursday, long day at work!  Just before I was walked out the door I was given a message to call a parent of one of the students who had been at the youth meeting the night before.  Long story short, she wasn't happy.    I have so many Christian parents tell me they are sending their children to the public schools to be missionaries.  I believe that is bunk to be frank with you.  I offended her with a statement that I made which is, "parents aren't sending their children to the public schools to be missionaries, rather they are sending them as lambs to the slaughter!"

Harsh statement, I know.  The truth is that I say it to try and invoke a response and this time it did.  My heart is this, every statistic out there shows that 50-88% of the children raised in the church homes quit going to church by the time they are 18.  By the way, it doesn't matter whether the child is Home schooled, Christian schooled, Public schooled or Charter schooled they all leave the church at the same rate!  This tells me that we're not doing something right!

I'm not perfect, far from it.  My heart is breaking for the youth that I see around me, church and non-churched.  I try to speak as straight as possible to them and not make excuses to try and get them to think.  The conversation with this lady didn't end that well.  I need a LOT of work, I'm still very rough on the edges.  I can tell you before the Lord though that my heart and motivations are pure when it comes to connecting with these young folks.

Thursday night we celebrated my wifes birthday!  I REALLY surprised her.  It was a lot of work with help from outside sources but, we pulled it off.  My wife is a HUGE blessing to me.  She really is the rock that makes everything that I do possible.  We are a team and I love her very much.  Our gifts are so different, fortunately they compliment each other.  She would have been very nice to the lady I offended!

Friday I had to get up EARLY, 4:30 am.  I am NOT an early person.  I stay up till' midnight, every night, period!  That's when I do a lot of my work.  I had to get up though because my friend Mark Elfstrand, pictured above, from  Moody Radio brought over 200 folks that listen to his morning show in Chicago with him to visit the museum.  He had me on the air with him for almost an hour.  He's a good man, check him out if you get Moody radio.

Saturday I took off for Gull Lake, easy 5.5 hour drive.  Got here, got set up and tried to rest my voice.  My voice is very weak at the moment.  I asked my friend who sings a lot what he does to help his throat.  He said, drink Throat Coat mixed with honey so I did.  That has got to be the grossest tasting stuff I've ever had.  Honey doesn't even do anything for it.  It's just plain BAD!  Tastes like black licorice!  Gag!

Sunday, Throat Coat worked, I was able to speak this morning.  Had the afternoon off so I took a nap!  Wow, very cool.  Nobody has come up to me upset yet, which is a good thing, I think!  All in all, God is good, all the time.  I speak until Wednesday around noon then I take off to get home to fly to California on Thursday.  That is going to be cool, I'll update you on that, next Sunday or Monday.  Blessings, stay bold for the Lord.
